Book Review: American Royals by Katharine McGee

American Royals by Katharine McGee

Genre: Fiction, Alternate History

BUG Rating: 4/5

Overall: I was so hooked on American Royals! It was dramatic, fun and totally binge worthy. I could so see this as a Netflix show! The story centres around an alternative American history – What if George Washington became the first King of America?

It follows the lives of the Washington’s and alternates between point of views of; Beatrice (future queen), Samantha (Beatrice’s younger sister, the spare), Daphne (the “mean girl” chasing the royal status), and Nina (the “nobody” princess Sam’s best friend) … you can already tell there’s going to be loads of drama, right?

There was such a good pace to the book with plenty of twists and turns throughout the book, but I did however find them somewhat predictable BUT it does end of a cliffhanger. I just CANT WAIT for the sequel next fall!

From now on, you are two people at once: Beatrice the girl, and Beatrice, heir to the Crown. When they want different things, the Crown must win. Always.

The Washingtons have ruled America for almost 250 years.

They’re gorgeous, fiercely famous and the beating heart of the most glorious royal court in the world.

But behind the glittering ballrooms, elegant gowns, and seemingly perfect public personas lie forbidden romances and scandalous secrets. Together four young women will navigate gossip, drama, and the eyes of the world upon them.

There’s everything to play for – but there can only be one queen.

This is the story of the most famous family in the world.

This is the story of the American royals.
